Purchasing a product does not automatically grant My Hero Books permission to publicly advertise the child’s identity or likeness.

A personalized book may contain a child’s name, illustrated likeness, personal interests, or other details submitted by the customer. The finished product is intended for the customer’s personal use unless a separate agreement provides otherwise.

My Hero Books will seek separate permission before intentionally featuring an identifiable child or personalized book in:

Public advertising
Social media promotions
Website testimonials
Book fairs or public displays
Sample products
Promotional videos
YouTube videos
Press releases
Other public marketing

Any promotional permission may be governed by a separate release or consent form. A parent or guardian may contact us with questions about the scope of a previously granted release.

Withdrawal of promotional permission will apply prospectively where reasonably possible. It may not be possible to retrieve materials already printed, distributed, published, downloaded, shared by others, or included in completed media productions.

12. CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITY FOR SUBMITTED MATERIALS

You are responsible for the legality, accuracy, and appropriateness of the information and materials you submit.

Do not upload photographs or personal information belonging to another child or adult unless you have the legal right and appropriate permission to do so.

My Hero Books may reject, suspend, or delete submitted material that we reasonably believe:

Was submitted without proper authorization

Incomplete or abandoned Book Information Forms: Generally deleted or anonymized within 90 days when no purchase is completed, unless needed for fraud prevention or customer support.
Child photographs and personalization materials: Generally retained while the order is active and for up to 24 months after final delivery to support corrections, replacements, reorders, and customer service, unless a longer period is requested or authorized by the parent.
Completed digital products: May remain available while the customer’s account or purchased access remains active.
Account information: Retained while the account is active and for a reasonable period afterward.
Orders, payments, invoices, and business records: May be retained for up to seven years or longer when required by tax, accounting, legal, or fraud-prevention obligations.
Parental consent and release records: May be retained for as long as necessary to document authorization and protect the rights of the child, parent, customer, and company.
