The story of Book City Crew began in 2023 when a passionate individual, Lonnie Neal, recognized the power of storytelling to inspire change. Having grown up in the inner city himself, Lonnie understood the challenges and opportunities that young people face firsthand. Drawing from his own experiences as a published author, Lonnie founded Connect Youth, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth and strengthening communities.

With a vision to harness the creative potential of young minds, Lonnie launched Book City Crew. This initiative aims to empower high school students to become authors and leaders in their communities from an early age. By providing them with the tools, resources, and mentorship needed to bring their stories to life, Book City Crew encourages young authors to dream big and make a positive impact.
